About our headache program

home_headache2.pngWhile it may seem that migraines are the most common type of headaches, migraines are responsible for only about 12-13% of all headaches (international headache society). Muscle, however, is responsible for 85% of all headaches, and many migraines can be resolved by treating muscle related headaches. Muscle headaches (also known as TMJ or tension headaches) do not usually require ongoing medication. Migraines, on the other hand, rely on medication that you take once the pain begins. Also, medications for preventing migraines are expensive and usually have many side effects.

What will happen at my first appointment?

  • home_headache3.pngFirst we will go over the questionnaire that you will have filled out.
  • After the questionnaire we will tell you if we can help you.
  • Next, we will go over what we believe is wrong with you. We use easy to understand patented visual aids developed by Dr. Ney to explain what has caused your headache, neck, and/or upper back pain. We feel that it is very important that you understand what is wrong and what you must do to help us manage and prevent your pain.
  • We do not prescribe valium type drugs or narcotics.

We look forward to meeting you and helping you manage your pain. We would like you to bring a family member or close friend with you for the initial appointment. I myself had a headache for seven years. Consequently, I understand you pain and how much it affects your personal life, the life of your family, and your performance at work. Actually, what the pain really does is take the fun out of life!

If you do not have money or insurance, ask us about our Help for Help Program. This is where you volunteer for a non-profit organization and we give you $15 credit per hour that you can use to pay up to half of the cost of your treatment in our office.
